Tips for Selling Your Rancho Penasquitos Home

There are lots of ideas for selling your Rancho Penasquitos home.  You can read blog articles, pick up the local newspaper or magazine and find tips everywhere. But what if you don’t have a ton of cash, a DIY background or limitless time? What are the very best ways to sell your home?

Tip 1: Cleanliness is king

Sounds simple enough, just clean your house but for some reason it doesn’t always register with sellers. Spend time scrubbing all those places you just ignore. Clean the windows so you invite people to look outside. Scrub down all the appliances and get rid of the stuff on the fridge. Clean off counters, put your everyday shower stuff in a tote and store it under the bathroom sink (you have all the stuff you need in a handy place and it is all pre-packed).

Tip 2: Make doors and windows slide easily

Scrub the track in your windows or shower doors. A toothbrush and bleach make quick work of them. When you are finished spray a little silicone spray in the track and your doors and windows will slide smoothly. Ever tried to open a sticky door? You want people to step outside to view the outside as well.

Tip 3: Make sure your locks open easily

Spray some graphite in your locks so they don’t stick. If an agent can’t get the door unlocked with their clients, kids, moms and extended family all watching you will wind up with a grumpy agent and a poor first impression.

Tip 4: Take a broom to the edges of your carpet

People always seem to miss the area closest to the wall when they vacuum. Most vacuums won’t get there anyway. The center of the room looks great, but the dirt around the baseboards doesn’t leave a good impression and makes the carpet dingy. Don’t forget staircases as well. Dirty edges make buyers think the carpet needs to be replaced when a little elbow grease can fix the problem. Hand-held vacuums work great on stairs.

Tip 5: Pack now!

A home that is crammed with furniture, toys and just plain stuff will always seem smaller. You are going to have to pack to move anyway, just start now. Having neatly stacked boxes in the garage rather than overfilled rooms will go a long way to impressing buyers with the spaciousness of your home.

So to recap, with a tote or caddy, bleach, a toothbrush, silicone spray, graphite spray, a broom and packing boxes, you can be way ahead of your competition and well on the way to selling your Rancho Penasquitos Home. For more ideas or help with selling your home, drop me a line.
