Summer in San Diego 2013
San Diego is just packed with great things to do all year round and summer is no exception. Here are a few ideas for fun family outings.
San Diego County Faire at Del Mar starts June 8 and runs through July 4. Perhaps the most talked about summer event in San Diego especially if you are into fried food or bacon. This year the fare will host an exclusive Bacon Pavillion with all things bacon, including bacon wrapped pickles and I am sure bacon wrapped bacon. There is also a traveling exhibit from the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. With concerts and fireworks there is always something for everyone.
Del Mar Horse Racing Season begins July 17 with opening day ceremonies and the Only Truly Fabulous Hats Contest. The season lasts through September with special events all season long. The Del Mar After 4PM Concert Series will be returning this year.
The San Diego City and County libraries will once again offer reading clubs and contests for kids of all ages this summer. The summer reading clubs have been a staple of the library since I was a kid and are a great way to get your kids involved in reading for fun.
Both San Diego Water Parks are open now and offer a great alternative to the crowds and parking at the beaches. Sea World and Knott’s Soak City have fun attractions and are a great way to beat the heat.
No matter what your age or interests there are great things to do this Summer in San Diego.
